Investment in clean technology for UK has risen to £1.6bn, but sector remains under pressure amid growing energy bills
13 October 2013 - Installations of solar power in the UK are likely to top records this year, and could offset some of the expensive dependence on gas, research has found, but the global outlook for green energy is still gloomy.
Investment in clean energy around the world fell to $45.9bn (£29bn) in the third quarter of 2013, according to Bloomberg New Energy Finance, a 14% drop on the second quarter and a reduction of a fifth compared with the same period last year. read more>>>
It looks like all that funding is paying off
There are plenty of reasons for pessimism when it comes to climate change: The U.N.'s latest report laid out, in no uncertain terms, that sea levels could rise as much as three feet by 2100 — higher than populated islands like the Bahamas. October 9, 2013 - A fully deployed smart grid has the potential of saving between $39.69 and $101.57 -- and between 55 to 592 lbs. of carbon dioxide emissions -- per consumer per year in the United States, according to a new from the Smart Grid Consumer Collaborative (SGCC), which aims to help smart grid stakeholders better understand the economic, environmental, reliability and customer benefits associated with smart grid investments.

Electricity produced from wind set a record for several hours on Thursday, according to data from the Southwest Power Pool, a regional transmission organization that covers Oklahoma and eight other states. Despite the wind record, coal continues to be the dominant fuel for the region.

10/14/2013 - The Sylvania School District is reviewing an energy reduction plan that could chop its energy bill by more than a half-a-million dollars annually.
Officials from the heating and cooling company Trane, at Monday's school board meeting, outlined an energy efficient plan that would centralize the heating and cooling control systems of the districts 14 buildings, which includes school and administrative offices.
Also included in the plan that Education Market Leader Jim Zavesky outlined for board members was steps taken to optimize energy consumption and reduce operating costs related to light use and the heating and cooling systems. read more>>>
10/10/13 - Take a look at the world’s first stand-alone solar lamp post! The new solar-powered Spiritlighting column can harvest electricity during the day to light up the streets at night. The studio behind the design, Kaal Masten, says the light post can be entirely powered by the sun, and it doesn’t have to be connected to the grid – so it could bring street lighting to areas without access to electricity.
